A person who has rights in an estate has the option to renounce them in favor of one or more co-heirs. This is not a true renunciation, but rather a transfer of the rights held by an heir in an estate to another heir, which transfer also implies acceptance.
The heir who has transferred their rights remains responsible for the debts of the estate. Therefore, it would be prudent to obtain from the beneficiary of the renunciation an agreement to indemnify the transferor for any amount related to the debts of the estate or for any tax payable as a result of this transfer.
